Objectives
Based on the historical background of Taiwan as
an island country during the past four years,
we in this department are dedicated to cultivate
students¡¦ abilities in the appreciating, creating
and criticizing of literary works through a in-depth
study of four major areas: Taiwan Indigenous Literature,
Taiwan Classical Poetry, Taiwan Literature before
Wartime, Modern Taiwan Literature of Post-war
Period.
Curricular Focus
Students start with major courses such as ¡§Survey
of Taiwan Literature¡¨, ¡¨Taiwan New Literature
Selections¡¨, ¡§Taiwan Literary History¡¨, ¡§Taiwan
Folktale¡¨, then explore ¡§Taiwan Prose Readings
and Writings¡¨, ¡§Taiwan Poetry Readings & Writings¡¨,
¡§Taiwan Novels Readings & Writings¡¨, ¡§Taiwan
Drama Readings & Writings¡¨, and finally grasp
¡¨Introduction to Taiwanese Literature¡¨ and ¡§Writing
of Dissertation¡¨ in the last year to achieve the
dual emphasis of theory and practicality.
Application
Students learn to practice ¡§Taiwan Literary Theory¡¨
in school and upon graduation, engage themselves
in activities of related areas according to their
interests and potential, including: writing academic
papers, compiling literary documents, publishing
literary works, hosting radio programs, designing
advertisements, teaching literary classes, and
editing news of media. |
