Objectives:
The objective of this department is to cultivate in students with the capacity of becoming excellent business administrators. A student graduating from this department is expected to apply what he/she has learned in school to the fields he/she is working in; fields such as international trade, banking, business, and academic study. Also, students are expected to contribute what they have learned to the continuing growth of the country’s economy.
In order to attain the objective stated above, some
characteristics of the department are submitted as follows to meet the demand
of making students versatile.
1.To reinforce students’ professional skills of the international trade.
2.To improve students’ foreign language abilities.
3.To facilitate the employment opportunities for students.
4.To equip students with the basics of being engaged in academic study.

Economics (Credits: 6)
This course includes
microeconomics and macroeconomics. Its objective is designed to make students
understand the basic concepts and theories of economics. Students can apply
these concepts and theories to operate business efficiently, and also to
understand or monitor if fiscal and monetary policy taken by government are
correct or not in fighting against inflation, unemployment, and economic
growth.
Foreign Exchange Theory and
Practise
(Credits: 4)
This course is designed to
enable students the ability to participate in the dynamic international
financial markets. It includes the theory and practises of foreign exchange
markets in both spotting and forwarding transactions regarding futures and
options. Students are required to complete the related courses such as theory
of international finance, basic economics.
International Finance (Credits: 4)
The purpose of this course is to provide the students with a comprehensive understanding of the causes and determinants of the change in exchange rate, as well as of its recent theories and developments. Emphasis is on the implement of the students' logic reasoning.
Money and Banking (Credits: 4)
The main subjects dealt in
this course include economic theory and policy, current banking and monetary institutions,
monetary theories and policies. The course also places a major emphasis on banking management, monetary
theory and financial policy by means of contemporary analysis of microeconomics
and macroeconomics theory.
Business English
(Credits: 4)
The course focuses on giving students a working
knowledge of commercial writing and practise in modern contexts. It covers all aspects of written
communication addressing and laying out a letter to orders and procedures
involving international trade. In addition, the course is enhanced by studying
a selection of readings on economy and trade.
Introduction to International
Business (Credits: 4)
The Introduction of International Business course
covers all aspects of international business environment, institutions,
strategies, operations, market entry, and so on. The course addresses the
realities of educational and marketplace needs in learning of international
business.
International Market Entry and Development
Strategies (Credits: 4)
There are so many entries to enter into
international markets. In the past
time, most people would like to use export to occupy the overseas markets. But in fact, there are some
other effective methods to help business enterprises to develop their foreign
markets. The objective of this
course is to help students have enough knowledge about marketing entries and strategies
in overseas markets. The
entries include Exporting, Licensing, Franchising, Management contract, Turkey
Contract, ... Etc. In these
optional entries, each company can refer to its conditions and then decide
which method is suitable for the business developments.
International Commercial Letter of
Credit (Credits: 4)
Currently, L/C is still essential payment terms in the International
Trade. Therefore, this course is
expected to supply students with sufficient payment knowledge to handle the
vital International Trade Process after they graduate from Tamsul Oxford
College University. This 'course
will offer a lot of case studies for increasing students' abilities on handling
International Trade.
Telex (Credits: 4)
Nowadays, telex is scarcely used by international trading companies. Therefore, this course will not spend
much time on discussing how to operate telex machines and how to use English
abbreviation. The main contents of
this course can help students be familiar to the past related subjects and
review some essential key points of International Trade.
International Marketing
(Credits: 6)
The main objective of this course is to provide the students a general
understanding of the marketing and international business activities. It
emphasizes the importance of linking international marketing with the overall
strategies of firms. A person with expertise in the field of marketing or
international marketing will be very demanded in the future in Taiwan.
International Commercial Letter of
Credit (Credits: 4)
This course is designed to develop the student's understanding of the
basic framework as well as the use of the L/C. Also important is related to the
legal aspect of the L/C--namely the "UCP." The students are thus
expected to have good performance in the trading company or the international
banking.
International Business Contract
(Credits: 4)
Taiwan is highly export-oriented. The ratio of the international trade to
GNP is very high. It foreign investment & technical cooperation are also
growing very fast in these years. This course covers all these fields. The
objective of this course is for the students to run the business smoothly when
required.
Money and Banking
(Credits: 4)
Money and Banking is the fairly popular field of the economics. The
contents of the course include the introduction of the financial markets, the
banking firm, and the management of banking system, the process of the money
supply, and the monetary policy, and the monetary theory.
Macroeconomics
(Credits: 3)
Macroeconomics is the study of the economy's
overall performance-- why and how the economy grows, why it fluctuates, what
causes inflation and unemployment. Macroeconomics is also the study of how
government policy influences the economy's performance.
Microeconomics (Credits: 3)
For students who care about how the world works, microeconomics would be
one of the most relevant and interesting subjects they study. A good group of
microeconomics is vital for managerial decision making, for designing and
understanding public policy, and more generally for appreciating how a modern
economy functions.
Accounting
(Credits: 6)
The Finance Accounting course will provide Accounting information for
students who make secession in the future about finance and through reading and
analyzing and interpreting financial statement, that the students become
intelligent user of financial statements.
International Trade and Policy
(Credits: 6)
Students are intended to have analytical exposition in terms of geometry,
with the necessary "tool kit" being developed in this course.
Therefore, introducing the international trade and policy in real analysis,
which is attempted to analyze on the criterion of breadth and depth.
Practice of International Trade
(Credits: 6)
This course focused on text interpretation and discussion with case study
or special subject to aid students in understanding and absorbing the operation
of international trade. It covers the procedures invoking market research,
contract, import and export of merchandise, letter of credit, shipping
documents, foreign exchange settlement, claim, arbitration and so on. It marks
the learning experience more efficient and fun for the student.

Objectives:
Owing to the
changes of the economic environment in Taiwan, the work of the government's
financial tactics and tax imposition has become more complex and the need for
financial administrators in government and professional taxation managers in
the field of business has rapidly increased. In order to meet the increased demands, the Finance &
Taxation Department was established in 1974 both under the three-year college
system, and in 1987, has expanded into the five-year-college division. In 1994, the college was promoted as a
senior college. Based on the
foundation established in the past, the Department of Finance & Taxation
Management, which is different from those of the departments in other
universities of Taiwan. Other universities place an emphasis on educating
people who are capable of doing research or try to be taxation administers for
the government. As to our
department, the cultivation of professional taxation administers both in the
field of business and accounting is greatly spotlighted in addition to the
formation of people who are engaged in the tax and finance business for the
government.
